NAMR Career Services Manager and Coach
WHAT YOU’LL DO
BCG’s North America (NAMR) Career Services (CS) is an internal career coaching and strategic placement service for BCG employees and alumni.
As a Career Services Manager and Coach (CSC), you will collaborate with internal and external constituents to help meet the needs of BCG’s staff and alumni to build the best possible end-to-end experience in transitioning out of BCG and networking into roles at new companies. The role combines relationship building, 1-on-1 coaching and support, influencing, and project management in support of new initiatives. The CSC will work closely with their local office CS Managing Director & Partners (MDPs), office leadership, and HR teams within their geography to ensure successful integration and implementation of all programs.
CSC’s have several primary responsibilities:
- Career coaching & job search support – coaches work with current and departing BCGers to provide a sounding board and serve as a strategic thought partner as they think about their career goals, as well as provide tactical support as they launch an actual job search
- Strategic placement – through relationships with key employers, clients, and alumni in each market, Career Services has a unique vantage point into job openings across industries and geographies; CSCs work to proactively match BCG talent with appropriate career opportunities
- Business insights – the function is uniquely positioned to feed insights back to the BCG People Team and NAMR Leadership about why people stay/leave, the market for BCG talent, potential commercial opportunities, and other topics that inform business decisions
- Alumni career support – the function provides life-long career support to BCG alumni, including programs to return to BCG (on a full-time or project basis), programming on career-related topics, and more
YOU’RE GOOD AT
Coaching/job search support
- Providing 1-on-1 career coaching and thought partnering on career management and job search to ensure seamless, integrated, and positive experience for leavers
- Integrating perspectives from individual’s goals and strengths, including their career vision and self-assessment, into job sourcing strategies and relationship management to find the right role

- Developing connections with Alumni to understand their team’s hiring needs as an important sourcing opportunity; supporting alumni who are considering a job change
- Developing and maintaining connections with search firms
Matching/placement
- Creatively matching supply and demand: leveraging knowledge of staff/alumni career interests and knowledge of external job openings to match people with potential roles and ensuring all staff have a breadth of opportunities available to them when they leave BCG
- Support commercial activities by working to find the right profiles from the BCG network when MDPs share external client opportunities and key roles
- Continuing to develop and refine ideas to create advantageous placements
Internal Collaboration
- Collecting and sharing relevant qualitative and quantitative data with CS teammates and local office stakeholders regarding candidates and market trends
- Building relationships and awareness with NAMR System Leads, office leadership and local office CS MDPs and teams to identify needs and perspectives, to capture and share best practices, and to assist in implementing new initiatives
- Partnering cross-functionally with various BCG people teams (Executive Placement Services, Recruiting, Alumni Relations, Career Development, Learning & Development) to strengthen capabilities, broadening the agenda and driving new initiatives
Programming
- Partnering with other members of CS team to share best practices and identify career support themes/trends among departing staff or alumni
- Delivering local office Career Services presentations 1-2x per year to ensure the CS offering is communicated and well understood by staff
- Performing other duties or work on other special projects as needed (ie DE&I focus, ABM support)
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or Masters in a related field preferred
- 5+ years of prior experience desired in one or more of the following roles: career counselor/coach, client service employee in a high-performance environment, and/or professional search
- Energetic, with drive, enthusiasm and a natural skill in relationship development
- High level of initiative, self-motivation, resourcefulness, patience, and tolerance for ambiguity
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment in person and virtually as required

YOU’LL WORK WITH
The NAMR Career Services is a dynamic, tight-knit team of seven who work in a collaborative environment. The team consists of two pillars – a central team responsible for management/operations and expert career coaches who service each of BCG’s North American regions. The team is spread across North America and works closely with other people functions, office leadership, and external partners.
Assistant Director, Advisement and Career Services
Responsible for assisting with day-to-day administration of career services and advisement services. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with developing and coordinating programs and services related to the academic and career advisement and employment development.
- Acts in a supervisory capacity for the department in the absence of the Director.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining budgets.
- Assists with the training of department and appropriate college personnel.
- Conducts academic and career advisement for all new, transfer and undecided students and students in non-clear categories of Standards of Academic Progress.
- Verifies graduation certification
